It is indeed a tongue-bruiser. I wasted a bottle of HopSlam last year by drinking it immediately after splitting a bomber of Stone Double Bastard with a friend of mine.
I could hardly taste the hops at all unfortunately. Talk about a beer wrecking your taste buds…

I’m seeing more and more double IPA’s from various brewers around the country, and I taste as many as I can get my hands on. I can tell you that Hop Slam is THE best I’ve had yet. Don’t let the price of a six pack scare you off -it’s well worth it. The beer has a nice big hop flavor, but not overdone, and comes in at a whopping 10% abv. Come on out and try this beer if you haven’t had it yet, it’s a beer experience you’ll never forget! (especially if you drink several of them..
