Motor City Brewing Works – Detroit, MI

Date January 21, 2008

Stopped by the Motor City Brewing Works this past weekend after a show at the Fisher. Definitely worth stopping in. The atmosphere is cozy and the staff very friendly. And the beer.. the beer was great. I tasted almost everything, the Brown, Porter, Lager and ended up having pints of the IPA and DIPA. We got a quick tour upstairs where the brewing process takes place. We were surprised to see wine carboys up there. The bartender explained that they make their own wine also.
After settling back into our seats, we sampled all of the wine. There was a Pyment and a Cyser. The Cyser was my favorite, and is half mead and half cider. Pyment is half mead, half zinfandel. The third was an Elderberry that came in at a hefty 18% abv. Very tasty.
Motor City Brewing Works also serves up a good food selections. The fire roasted pizza selection looked amazing. If I lived nearby, I would definitely be frequenting this place, and now that I know where it is – next time I’m downtown Detroit, I’ll be swinging by.

I’m glad you posted something on MCBW. Sarah and I love this place. We haven’t been there since they added food. One of the cool things about MCBW is the music by Detroit artist you can buy.
