Dark Lord Day - April 26, 2008

Date March 30, 2008

I’ve been reading about this, and am planning on attending this years event. Here’s the quick summary: Dark Lord is an Russian Imperial Stout that Three Floyds Brewing in Munster, Indiana makes annually, and only sells at this event. From what I heard, they cost around $15 for a 22 ounce bottle. The cool part about the event is the beer tasting in the parking lot. Everyone that wants to participate in the tasting brings various beers to the tables and trades samples. Dark Lord Day starts at 11 a.m. and goes until 10:30 p.m. I heard it’s best to get there early, because the line for beer is long. It sounds like this year is going to be more organized than past years with food vendors and more porta-johns.

Check out the following video. I’d suggest muting the sound, but it really sums up the event. I’m definitely adding this to my summer to-do list, it really looks like a blast. See the website for more info.

My brother & I have gone the last two years. It has grown exponentially, and I don’t know how much bigger this event can get. It’s worth going to just for the beer potluck, just bring a local growler and enjoy.

If anybody needs a place to crash for the night, I’ll be posting some information in the Craft Beer MI Yahoo group on or right after tax day

The nearest hotel fills up quickly!

    Dark Lord Day (3 Floyd’s Brewing) April 26 11am- 10 pm

    I’ve posted the flyer here

If you need a place to stay, Mary and I are opening the house up to Michigan Craft Beer fans. We have a couch, a double papasan (love chair/sleeper), and two individual air mattresses. If weather permits, you can also camp in our yard.

This won’t be Mike Hoepfner’s place – no porta potties, no home theater, and no indoor bar, but we do have a fire ring, plenty of outdoor chairs, and great cooking!

One of us will be the designated driver. If we get a large crowd, we can both be designated drivers.

Just shoot me an email – seminar7@wowway.com - if you are interested ASAP.

    Dave
