Oberon Release Party
March 22, 2008
Monday the 24th is the release of one of MI’s most successful beers, Bell’s Oberon. It marks the beginning of spring and that summer days of sitting on a deck enjoying an Oberon and just letting time pass you by is not that far away. Although not my favorite![]()
Bell’s beer, to me it represents sun, warm temperatures, and relaxation. And, as Sarah always says, it “tastes like sunshine.” Sitting in an outdoor seating area and drinking an Oberon is one of life’s great joys.
Kalamabrew a blog located on the west side of the state has a post on the release parties that are going on around the state and yes the country. Click here for the link.
One is not mentioned on the list. In my opinion it’s the finest beer bar in all of the downriver area and most likely where I will be on Monday. Here are the details on their release party…
Wyandotte, MI
March 24th

Any beer whose release is tied to the start of baseball season has my vote. Cheers!

Anyone know of any Oberon-events, or even places that will have it on the 24th, in or around the Toledo area? If not, I just might have to make my way up to Wyandott… that place looks like a great place for a drink or two.

Sorry Nate, I haven’t heard of any release parties in Toledo. I’ll keep trying to get one going in Monroe but it won’t be on the 24th. As far as Oak Cafe is concerned looks are not deceiving, it is a great place.
Thanks George, I was hoping other people would step up and add more places. For those who don’t know Ashley’s in Ann Arbor(IMO #1 beer bar in SE MI) opened two more locations in Westland, MI and Woodhaven, MI. The one I have not been to is Ashley’s Westland but I have to believe it is a great place to get a craft beer. Oh Ashley, if you are reading this please open one walking distance from my house or maybe in my house.
Also I got an email from Marc Wolbert of Brannigan Brothers in lansing. They are doing a midnight release of Oberon Easter Sunday. They have $2.00 pints from midnight until 2am, March 23rd.
Anyone else that knows of any other release parties please add them.

Unfortunately, I didn’t make it up to the Oak Cafe for the release party; is it safe to assume we’ll start seeing bottles in stores relatively soon? I’d love to have a six-pack and/or a mini-keg for the weekend.

Yeah, I didn’t make it either. Easter weekend was a little rough on me. I ate way too much.

To answer my own question, I found a very large display at The Andersons here in Maumee this evening. Walked out with a box of 24 and a 2008 Oberon glass. Now we just need for it to start warming up. =)

Cindy, one of the founders of Craft Beer in MIchigan, sent an email out about two more Oberon release parties. I am hearing rumors that there will be a release party for Monroe sometime next week. In the meanwhile a keg of Oberon should arrive today at 129 Lounge in Monroe.

Hey Gang!!! I love what your doing, I visited the site the first time that
Kev emailed me info; but judging from Sarah’s last email (or two) you didn’t know that I was here!
It makes me take a break from my grapes and appreciate the hops!
