Homebrewer goes pro for a day

Date May 28, 2008

A while back we did a Featured Homebrewer post on Brian Richards from Marquette, MI. Brian entered a Belgian Strong Ale (similar to Duvel) called Biere Bella into the BOSS Chicago Cup Homebrew Competition and won Best of Show. The prize: brew his batch of beer on a large scale at Flossmoor Station Brewery in Flossmoor, IL. This past weekend Brian ventured to Illinois to do just that.
Brian had a great time and said the Biere Bella should be ready sometime in June. If it turns out good theres a chance it could get entered in the GABF (great american beer festival).
Check out some photos on Brians blog. Congrats Brian – remember us when you go pro!! :)

I hope they will growler his creation at Flossmoor Station! If they do, maybe I can bring one to Ypsilanti.

Only one?! I’ll put an order in for a keg!!

Seriously, that’d be sweet if they did. I definitely want to try it.
We’ll do an update on this when Brian gets more info.

Just got this from Matt (Flossmoor Brewmaster):

The beer you were asking about will be tapped July 8. 7pm for mug club members. 8pm for everyone else.

It has been renamed 12 in honor of our 12th anniversary

I wish it wasn’t such a long drive for me to get down there. I’ll be in Ypsilanti for the MI Summer Beer Festival so I was thinking of maybe swinging down there on my way back to the U.P. It would basically replace my 3 hours from Marquette to the bridge. We’ll see.
