Summer Craft Beer Dinner at Frog Leg Inn in Erie, MI

Frog Leg Inn Restaurant in Erie, Michigan is hosting a summer beer dinner next Thursday, July 17th at 6:30 p.m. Two Michigan breweries (Atwater Block Brewery and Detroit Brewing Company) will be featured as well as beers from Avery Brewing Company in Colorado and Dogfishead in Delaware. The beers will be paired with cuisine that creatively combines classic French country cooking with summer favorites (like watermelon) and fresh seasonal produce. The beer and food pairings are as follows:

 Appetizer - Detroit Lager with Fresh Rabbit Pate

Soup - Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA with Watermelon Gazpacho

Salad - Atwater Brewery Dirty Blonde Ale with Mesclin Greens and Wasabi Mustard Greens in a Spiced Lemon Vinaigrette

Entree - Avery Brewing Company Ellies Brown Ale with Marinated Braised Pork Shank, Smoked Roasted Yukon Gold Potatoes and Fresh Seasonal Vegetables

Dessert - Atwater Brewery Vanilla Java Porter with Layered Chocolate Genoise with Cappuccino Mousse topped with Chocolate Mint Ganache.

As with the Founders beer dinner a few months back, I’m really eyeing the dessert course. It’s probably just the pregnancy sweet-tooth talking but the Atwater Vanilla Java Porter with the  Chocolate Genoise (I had to look it up - it means a delicate buttery sponge cake) sounds fantastic. It’s too bad I won’t get to fully indulge with the Vanilla Java Porter. It’s one of my favorites.
