Jeff & Patti’s Fabulous Beer Trippin’
August 8, 2008
Michigan Beer Buzz reader, Patti Smith and her husband Jeff, went on a brewery tour last week and had an awesome time.  My plan was to post the entire article here, but Patti and Jeff had such a good time, the post turned out to be several pages long and way too good to edit!  So, instead, I figured it would be quicker and easier to link to Patti’s blog. Thanks to Patti for writing about the trip, it sounded like an awesome time and definitely made me thirsty!

Oooh, HopCat (and Schmoe’s) next time, for sure!
I should have mentioned that Jeff’s last name is “Bletch”…once in awhile he gets called “Mr. Smith” and he fusses
We hope to one day catch up with you’all Rob, the Nashs etc!!

That sounds like a great trip and the whole blog post was fantastic. I wish instead of the gas station doughnut, you had the chance to eat at Sun Dance. It’s as worth the trip as Founders, Hop Cat, and the Hideout. It’s also downtown like Founders, Hop Cat and the B.O.B.

Next time Jeff and I go, we’ll take suggestions cuz, yeah jnaz, I would have totally loved Sun Dance more than my crappy donut.
It could be like a “Plan our Adventure” blog event!!! Seriously–that would be cool.

Great post and it sounds like you had a great trip. Next time you get to Grand Rapids you must get to The Hideout. It is hard to find but well worth the trip.
I agree. Hopefully someday, we will get to meet you. Currently, I have to stay close to home. My wife is about to pop and I’m still working on the nursery.

Sounds like you had a great trip! We just did something very similar only we went by bicycle. We hit 12 different brewpubs/microbreweries and logged 475 miles over our 8 days. Sounds like we had a lot of the same brews at the different locations.
Nice Pics
I’d recommend adding Saugatuck Brewing Co., they have a great building and some tasty brews. I would also second the Hopcat suggestion. I was dismayed to find out that we missed the debut of their beer by a week.

Hi, I was with Frank on the Michigan Bike Tour of Beer… We had The Hideout on our list for the Michigan Pub Crawl by Bicycle, but they were unexpectedly closed on the Saturday afternoon we were there… Oh well, next time. The last time I was there, it was still The Hair of the Frog… and Robert Thomas was good, too. By, GR has some good beer. The beer at Founder’s made up for it- nothin’ like riding a bike with a hangover!

Wow! Frank & froggyrider, how the heck have we not “met” on line before?? I ride my bike too–although now as well as you do
I bookmarked your blog, looking forward to more beer and biking stuff
