This maybe my laziest post ever. Simply put it’s a list of beer events for this weekend. My plan is to release an event list on every Sunday. Here is a list of events for this weekend…
Sherwood Brewing Co.’s is having an Abbeversary Festival to celebrate their second year. The celebration is on September 5, 6 & 7th. Here is the link…

The Great Lakes Cider and Perry Festival is going on Saturday and Sunday. It is a first time event. Here is the information cut from the MBG.

The Great Lakes Cider & Perry Festival
Saturday, September 6th & Sunday September 7th
At the Grounds of Uncle John’s Cider Mill, St. JohnsThis is the inaugural event of the newly formed Great
Lakes Cider & Perry Association.Saturday,
11 am - 6pm: We will be pouring as many samples as
we can get of Ciders and Perry from the states and
provinces that border the Great Lakes. These will also
be made available for sale to attendees at the retail
area of the event.
Live entertainment (Spur of the Moment Band 1pm -
4pm).
Food vendors will be sampling and selling sweet &
savory selections.
Family oriented fun available on the grounds at Uncle
John’s Cider Mill.(A BBQ dinner will follow the Saturday event for
volunteers and cidery/winery representatives.)Sunday,
10am - Noon: First official meeting of the Great Lakes
Cider & Perry Association.
We will be discussing the merits and goals of the
Association, a dues structure and general business
issues.Noon - 2pm: Sensory Panel Evaluations of Ciders &
Perry; an event for the non-commercial cider maker.
Bring along your best (or most baffling) samples for
panel review and audience participation.
Commercial attendees are encouraged to bring tank/
barrel samples. Live entertainment: Fading World
Band 1pm - 4pm.Admission is $5 and includes a souvenir glass and
three pours; additional pours are available for an
additional fee.

Hey you Michigans! Speaking of beer events, I have an eight hour window to zip over the bridge at Port Huron in a few weeks and make my way back to Stratford ON. I don’t want to go as far as, say, Ann Arbor or Lansing but is there anything beery I could hit in that time?
[By the way, in Plattsburg, NY a "Michigan" is a sort of chili dog but I didn't mean to imply that at all.]

Alan, if you are up for a trip to Detroit, I’m fond of the Detroit Brewing Company. In the Detroit area, you will find some lovely breweries as well. Kuhnhenn in Warren has yummy stuff.

Hey Teacher! I had wanted not to go that far from Port Huron but appears that may place me in a pine forest. Anything at Flint? And if I did go to Warren from Port Huron would all my worst Canadian prejudices about safety come to pass?

Hee hee. I actually teach school in Detroit (live in A2), and it’s mostly okay…if you stick to the downtown part. Warren is fine…lots of people on the roads though, and I think the drivers on 696 drive really, really fast. Otherwise, it’s kind of a typical, working-class suburb.
Now as for Flint…I’ve only been there once. That city has a terrible reputation for being violent…and I’m not sure about brewpubs. Anyone?

Thanks - by the way, the Bells sales rep has also been very useful identifying shops, including some not listed in the ratings sites, as being well stocked. Useful information.
Sorry for the lingering Canadian prejudice, by the way. I am a lingering Canadian but work hard to overcome it.
