Fort Street Brewery Celebrates Michigan’s Harvest
September 22, 2008
Supporting Michigan is something I feel strongly about so I am excited to spread the word about Fort Street’s Harvest Fest. From September 22nd to the 27th, Fort Street will be releasing a new beer every night and having food grown right here in Michigan. Doug Beedy, the Fort Street brewer, can describe it best. Below are the event details Doug put up on the MBG website.
Starts: 9/22/2008
Ends: 9/27/2008September 22-27, Fort Street Brewery’s Harvest Fest.
Special food menu featuring Michigan grown and
inspired foods plus a plethora of fall beers, including a
wet hopped ale and some other unique creations. 4 – 5
new beers in total during course of the week.

A new beer every night, Monday-Friday!
Our second annual Harvest Fest coincides with the
first day of fall, which is Monday, and celebrates the fall
harvest and the bounty of good stuff grown in Michigan. All week long we have a special menu of Michigan
grown foods and Michigan inspired recipes. Just to
tempt your tastebuds, this includes such items as
Squash Bisque, Duck & Cherry Ravioli, Baked
Potatoes, Ratatouille, and even Margarita Calzones
(fresh basil, tomatoes, and mozzarella)!
The beer list is pretty exciting as well and ties in with
the harvest theme.
Monday’s beer is “The Vegetable Crop”, which is an
ale made with potatoes.
Tuesday we have “The Hop Harvest”, which is a wet
hopped ale made with hops grown right here in Lincoln
Park.
Wednesday is “The Orchard”, which just might be the
most unusual fruit beer you’ve ever had, and is made
with locally grown peaches.
On Thursday, the Burgermeister will officially proclaim it
fall in Lincoln Park by tapping our 87th cask-
conditioned ale, “Fall Flowers”, which is “Touchdown
Brown” with passion flowers added to the cask.
We’ll still have the special food menu on Saturday, but
our last new beer is released on Friday, and that is “The
Pumpkin Farmer”, which is a pumpkin beer done the
way a French/Belgian farmer would do it (if French/
Belgian farmers brewed pumpkin beers).
Also on Thursday, the folks from El Mayor Tequila (El
Mayor with the Mayor), will be on hand giving free
samples and free swag of a tequila so delicous and so
smooth, it’s almost a crime to call it tequila.
Of course, we’ll have prizes every night for a few
lucky folks in attendance, and I’ll give a free growler of
beer every night to anyone who comes dressed as their
favorite Michigan agricultural product (within reason).
We might even play a rousing game of Michigan
Agriculture Trivia for prizes as well.
