Arbor Brewing Co.’s Newsletter
May 2, 2009
The Arbor Brewing Company’s newsletter showed up in my inbox and I was excited to see that they are taking my idea of the Michigan Beer Toast and doing this with it…
ABC Brew Pub – Michigan Beer Toast May 11, 2009 06:00 PM
Michigan ratified the 21st Amendment (repealing prohibition) on April 10, 1933 but still remained a dry state for another month. That is until May 11, 1933 at 6pm when beer went on sale for the first time in about 15 years. 2009 marks the 76th anniversary of that event and Arbor Brewing Company is celebrating by hosting an all pub toast. The idea was brought to us by Kevin Nash to raise a glass to the people who fought to repeal the 18th amendment and to the current men and women that have made the Michigan beer scene great. You can read more this hereand join the facebook event here. Join us at Arbor to celebrate this momentous occasion with a complimentary beer sample and toast at 6pm on May 11th.

Velvet Hammer (third)
We’re brewing up something special for this momentous occasion – the Velvet Hammer (third) has already been transferred into oak barrels where it is aging and souring and will soon be bottled just in time for the big day. We are bottling only 30 cases of 750s and it will only be available on May 31. ($12/bottle or $120/case) Whatever doesn’t sell this year will be cellared until next year’s anniversary party and sold alongside Velvet Hammer (fourth). This is a different recipe than the last Velvet Hammer so you’ll definitely want to check it out. We will also have 2 kegs to serve on tap on the 31st that we’ll be tapping at noon and serving while supplies last.
Beer gardening
Matt will undoubtedly be holding down the fort in the beer garden with his 2 liter stein. If you have a special stein you’d like to drink out of, bring it to the party and we’ll fill it at the going rate.
Foodie fun
To celebrate the official launch of the new menu, we’ve invited our local suppliers to join us for a meet and greet from 5-7pm. We’ll also be featuring samples of some of the new stuff so be sure to stop by the lounge and say hi to your local farmers!
