Ann Arbor, MI July 10, 2009: Arbor Brewing Company is pleased to announce that we will be going smoke-free effective August 3, 2009. We are making this change in our operations in order to provide a safer and more comfortable environment for our customers and staff.

Can’t say I’ve even noticed smoking in Arbor, but I’m happy with the decision. It’s probably selfish of me to say this (sorry smokers) but I’m looking forward to more smoke free environments in Michigan in the near future.

You folks have many brewpubs that have voluntarily made the decision and that is good.
But be careful about an entire ban. Certain bars will close and cigarette tax revenues will inevitably drop.

I agree with you Dave. It should be left up to the business owners whether they want a smoke free enviroment. As a nonsmoker, I’m glad that Arbor made the switch but smokers need a place to go to have smoke and a drink.

I applaud the decision to make this move. I always said that sitting in the non-smoking section of a restaurant is like swimming in the non-peeing section of the pool! Way to go Matt and Renee!!!
