I had no idea they were opening a location in Ann Arbor… I’m thinking the homebrew club needs to take a field trip! =)

I was in on Friday for a pre-opening benefit event. Only four of the beers were on tap: 3 Bams (regular, Noir, Weizen) and the “North Peak” IPA. The “North Peak” beers are brewed at Jolly Pumpkin Old Mission, a 50+ barrel brewery on the Old Mission peninsula, north of Traverse City. According to my source, this brewery will also be brewing beers with a “Grizzly Peak” label, but that none of the “Peak” beers will be recipes that have been brewed in the respective brewpubs. (A little odd, that.)

Anyway, JP/AA is in a neat space, on two floors. Full bars on both, smaller menu upstairs. Pub-ish food with a good selection of vegetarian and vegan items. At some point, they will also be distilling, but on Friday, the still was in two pieces on the floor, so I don’t know when.

I found that the IPA had way too much diacetyl to drink, but everything else is fantastic. Having access to Bam Noire on tap is wonderful.

    Very nice place.
