A Brief Glimpse into My Soul…with jokes!
Happy belated New Year. I know, I’ve been bloggy absent. With the kids and my back to school shenanigans, it’s been hectic.
Anyway, I’d been meaning to discuss what I think is one of the coolest inventions of my lifetime. My DVR. I do not know how I ever lived without the thing. I can watch what I want, when I want and also freeze time. I’m still trying to convince the kids that I cannot (yet) fast forward time. Only pause it and play it back. I once blogged about what the top of our nightstand says about us as individuals. I think the DVR queue is similar. Let’s have a look. These are mine.

I was going to also post pics of my husband’s queue, but he’s busy playing Lego Star Wars on the Wii and he looked at me like I was insane when I asked him if I could. Hey…blog business people! Suffice it to say that his is basically hours of Realtree Outdoors, Futureweapons and Whitetail Adventures.
Back to me though. 35% full isn’t too bad. I start getting really antsy when it gets over 40%. 50%+ and I’m a ball of despair and fear of failure. I feel as though I will NEVER get through all of that. What if we go away on vacation? I become spontaneously comatose? The power goes out for days? Insanity. I mean, how long can “Luke await judgment while his eternal soul is in limbo?”
So, what’s on your DVR queue?
P.S. Who am I kidding with 12+ hours of The War. Like I’m EVER going to watch that. Not when there’s American Idol Rewind to be viewed!

Sorry if one really glimpsed into your soul they would see you are haunted by a spider with long eyelashes. Please blog about that one cause it’ll be good.
Meanwhile my kids loved Gullah Gullah back in the day. I didn’t know it was still on!
What’s that frog’s name Begne Begne or something.
(Come and lets play together in the bright sunny weather!)
Okay, I’ll stop monopolizing the comments now. As you were.

I miss my DVR so much I could cry!! We had the Dish Network equivalent, but it’s the same thing - record and hold onto your favorite shows forever. It just got too pricey for us and now all we have is - gulp - rabbit ears on top our telly!
But when I did have the DVR my shows were half children’s shows/movies (Winnie-the-Pooh, Doodlebops, etc.); a portion of husband’s sci-fi junk (like Dr. Who and Battlestar Galactica; joint shows such as Law and Order: SVU, Desperate Housewives and American Idol, and then my favorites, which were Food Network shows and things like “A Baby Story” and “A Wedding Story” from TLC. Oh, and don’t get me started on Lifetime movies!!!!
There, now you know all our secret TV watching habits! lol Feel better?

Charter cable bundle here (iNet, phone, cable) and wireless networking in the house, but no DVR yet. Not even a cell phone. As high-tech as I am, these are things we just haven’t given in to.

It is if you are living in caves
Did I mention I can FREEZE time!??!!! The “joint” shows dh and I watch are few and far between. We watch Intervention together. I can get him to watch the crappy auditions portion of Idol and we like Scott Baio is 45 and Single. Other than that, he goes his way, I go mine. (thus the need for 2 DVRs)

We LOVE ours too!!! If Mark knew how to program a series, ours would be all taken up with the Military and History channels. Just this season–you know these shows have been on for years–but like I said, just this season we’ve gotten into Criminal Minds, Without a Trace. Then of course, IDOL, Brothers n Sisters, Desp. Housewives and Grey’s Anatomy. I like to record Bold n the Beautiful. Terrible vice I know with the daytime soap—but its only 1/2 an hour and I can watch it in 15 because I ffrw the parts I don’t like!
FREEZE time is the way of the future!

Yes, well, General Hospital is the same for me, Cheryl. It’s hideously bad. I can’t even defend it. However, it is occasionally deliciously good and it’s a near thirty-year old habit of mine (clearly my parents did not rigidly supervise my TV viewing in the 70’s…Hi mom!) But…I pretty much watch it in 15 minutes.

What channel was the crash course in Catholicm on?
I had a math class at CMU back in the Luke & Laura heydey (when VCR’s were still relatively new!). The class was a Tu-Th 2:00-3:30 class, but the PROF was a huge GH fan and let us out at 2:50 every day. Since half the class was taking it pass/fail since it was for university program requirements, (it was math theory–yuck), I think he understood that we were more interested in the Ice Princess than in doing clock arithmetic (base 12).

Woo hoo! You’re a Chippewa? Oooooh waaah!
I haven’t watched my crash course yet. It was on Ch. 56, EWTN. According to my DVR search feature, it will be on again at 5:00 a.m. on thursday the 10th.
SEE people who don’t have a DVR???? They. Are. Awesome.

Bedford grad, CMU double grad. Maybe that’s behind all of the half sentences, parentheticals, ellipses?? What more could a girl ask for? (bad sentence structure and all–you’d never guess I get paid to write!)
My kids use the DVR. I’ve just mastered how to get the TV back from the dvd player to regular tv. BTW–you have a message on your system (the little envelope thingy at the top of the page). Probably free HBO or something that you’ve now missed getting on DVR!

Hail Hail to all the Bedford Grads!!!! Woot Woot
Did you see the pep band last night at the bball game? I was impressed to learn the students put it together because they wanted to play during the games! What spirit they have…..maybe they should share their school spirit on the bedford chatter—getting yucky over there.
In regards to the envelope….if there is a red dot in the bottom left corner where your time is displayed on the front of your DVR—you have a message
