My Oscar Picks (or…entertainment news from the back of my eyelids)
I just have to laugh at the current crop of Oscar nominated movies. I have seen none of them. I have no hope of seeing any of them and maybe with the exception of Juno, have no desire to see any of them. Seriously, I think they named “There Will Be Blood” just for me. I would also avoid anything titled, “There Will Be Cancer”, “There Will Be Guys in Latex Fat Suits,” or “There Will Be Harvey Keitel Naked.”
THIS is what I’ve seen this year, and therefore here are my Oscar picks:
1.) Bee Movie (eh…Also, the mosquito as the lawyer?? Come ON!)
2.) Ratatouille (fell asleep)
3.) Superbad (Supergood!!!!)
4.) Knocked Up (Fantastic. 30 minutes too long)
5.) Er…
6.) Hmmm
M’yeah. I got nothin’. We see nothing. I honestly think the last movie I’ve seen in the theater that wasn’t G rated was Gladiator.
Woot!

I only know of 1 movie that I saw for sure (maybe 2–was there a harry potter movie that came out??). I saw Hairspray. John Travolta should have been nominated for best supporting actress (ha) and Christopher Walken for best supporting actor. Amanda Bynes was also good, but the rest of the movie–only a B-.
My kids love superbad. I want to see the Bee movie, but since my youngest is a teenager, I’m going to have to watch it on video.

I’m with you Robin, I fall esleep just about anytime a movie is on! In fact we went to see Alvin and the Chipmunks (very good, even the teenager liked it!) and Juno and both times it was “Mom, you’re snoring” EE gads, I don’t snore. We have just about every movie and I haven’t seen 1/4 of them. We watched Superbad (my 2nd time) and Mr. Woodcock Saturday night. I never fell esleep–first for me, both were great. I love the stupid humor movies.
Honestly, any of the movies that are nominated for Oscar’s are never any of the ones I would watch. Think about it, “Fargo” and “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon”. No thanks

OMG I LOVED Fargo! I quote it constantly (along with Princess Bride and snippets of Monty Python). It’s kind of hillarious (mostly only to me). I do it in class all of the time and I’m lucky if one person in the room has a clue what I’m talking about. Extra credit!!!

ok, now princess bride is one of my very favorite movies. I watch it on DVD about twice a month (and it never skips or freezes up!). Monty Python and most Mel Brooks movies are terrific as well (although I confess that I fell asleep the first time I saw Blazing Saddles). Why is it that none of these ever get nominated? As you wish!
