THE BIG READ BEGINS…

March 16th, 2008 Posted in Programs

What page are you on?  Hope you are reading To Kill a Mockingbird to participate in our county Big Read.  We opened on March 14th with a big bang.  The Monroe Community Players did a great job presenting the play and Senator Randy Richardville was there to officially kick off our March 14 - May 1st Big Read.  We had great publicity from the Monroe Evening News and there were lots of people at the kick-off and the play. We gave away many, many books.  Soon they will be circulating all over the country….it is sort of a Pay It Forward kind of deal.  You read the book and then pass it on to another county resident.   We want to get as many people as possible to read it.  Then, there are drop-in book discussions open to the public all over the county as well as lots of other great events.  At the Bedford Branch alone, we will be hosting three book discussions as well as a two digital Heritage Scrapbooking sessions.  Our tech trainer will show you how to transfer those family heirloom photos to digital and compile a heritage scrapbook online. Call 847-6747 to register.  To find out about all the other great activities, stop in at your local branch library and pick up an event calendar. Get a copy of the book  too!
