The blog will officially launch on Tuesday next week but until then….
Welcome. I’d like to thank Bedford Now for suggesting I blog. It was very nice. If you get up early you might have seen me on 13 ABC Action News or out covering stories.
Here’s what I’m qualified to talk about: television news, Bedford, living with boys, Grease, The Osmonds, learning to cook, sleep deprivation, Harry Potter, Anne Rice, David Sedaris and hairspray. And ask me about Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers.
The only plan I have here is to write about things I think are funny or helpful. If people are interested I can post more on a story I’ve covered that day.
I’ll admit I am very afraid about airing my punctuation problems in public so please be kind.
Regards,
RR
P.S. I hear LunaPierCook over at Blogs Monroe is very popular so in that spirit I’m in need of a recipe to post. If it works for him I’m thinking it could work for me, right? Except I’m no cook and not from Luna Pier. Maybe I’ll post a recipe for pumpkin cookies OR a low carb alternative to the Thanksgiving mashed potato. Any suggestions?

I’m suddenly having weird visuals of The Osmonds performing Grease with vampires and plenty of hairspray …
Seeing as someone at 13abc once messed up our dinner plans because of some propane that got out of hand (has Alexis bought those flip-flops yet?), and that same someone still comes out to the house on occasion to help make dinner (and of course to eat it … we sure don’t feed that guy enuf!), and seeing as we’re generally watching you, Jeff and Sashem while having our morning coffee, it’s as though this connection should have been made some time ago! Helping people with cooking is part of what I do. As you’re already a part of our morning around this house, just lemme know what you need. BTW, doesn’t RR stand for “Rachael Ray” in the minds of the ABC bigwigs anyway??
Dave
Welcome to the fun!
From one blogging reporter to another, I think you’ll like the fact that on a blog …. there are NO COPY OR PRODUCTION DEADLINES ON A BLOG! Yay! You can post a topic right away or take more time to research or write it. Your choice.
Dave, hello to you! I didn’t think about the RR thing. Maybe I’ll sign off as Paula Deen? It sounds like your practically a member of the 13 family already so it’s nice to cyber meet you. You’re blog makes me hungry.
And Paula, I don’t don’t how to work without a deadline. I’m such a procrastinator. And on t.v. no one can see your inappropriate use of commas, of course the blog doesn’t add ten pounds like t.v. right? I’m nervous about this so thank you for the welcome.
Woo hoo! You’re up and running. Don’t be nervous, but you spelled dryer wrong!
Love,
Sis
Fixed it. Spelling and punctuation. Two issues now. Still nervous. Oh and sentence fragments.
Here’s a recipe, curtesy of your 5 year old neice…
Gum Oat Balls
You will need:
1 green (or blue) gum ball –(we used one from our ginormous though dwindling halloween candy bowl)
2 Can of Spartan Brand Quick Oats
To Prepare:
Chew the gum ball for 5 to 10 minutes in your mouth. Pour dried oats into a bowl. Take the gum ball out of your mouth and roll it in to the oats.
Serving Suggestions:
As a mid morning snack! Can also be fed to fake horses.
Enjoy!
Robin
Sounds tasty. Keep ‘em coming. Fake horses are good because it’s easy to clean their fake stable. Cheaper too! Thanks niece. xoxo
My kids gave me The Tailgating Cookbook one Christmas. Here’s page 236, dedicated to tomorrow’s games …
Beer
Perhaps the favorite drink of tailgaters, beer is available in most supermarkets, package stores, grocery stores, party stores (both regular and drive-through), gas stations, department stores and gourmet shops — pretty much anywhere except elementary schools and places of worship. Most tailgaters I know like to drink their beer cold. And often. Look for it in bottles, cans and kegs, though some smaller breweries only bottle their beer. Remember, kegs require the proper tap equipment. A plastic hose is not going to work, no matter how hard you suck on it.
Ingredients
1 beer
Place the beer in some environment that will get it cold. Once cold, open the beer, being careful not to shake it first. Drink.
Note: Most beer comes in easy-open pop-top cans or twist-off bottles. But some bottled beers do not have twist-off caps. These need to be identified before you attempt to open them. Trying to twist off a non-twist-off cap can be humiliating. You may want to pack a bottle opener, unless one of your kids has really strong teeth.
Beer and Gum Oat Balls, but that’s what I served at my last party.
I love the beer recipe. Being careful not to shake it first… have a great tailgating football day tomorrow.
Welcome!! This is a GREAT community! Looking forward to seeing your posts!
My link….I hit “enter”…oops!!
Nice to meet you Tonya! I just got back from the Monroe Holiday Parade. When I figure out how to post pics I will. Thanks for the warm welcome Blogs Monroe. What nice people. Northern Hospitality I think.
