Just returned home from the USBC Open Championship in Las Vegas Nevada.

Another rewarding experience with friends and teammates Mike Barron, Eric Liedel, Mark Huber, and Jim Watterson. Mike was consistent throughout the tournament and grinded out 1914. Eric, Mark, And Jim struggled and never really found it. That happens at the Open. (Difficult conditions as you know) I was finding the pocket okay but challenged mentally the first 2 events (Team/doubles) with a total of 32 9 pin counts through the first 60 fames. Ten pin after ten pin after blower 7’s after ten pin. (You get the idea.) Finally in singles things started to go my way after after the 20th adjustment of the tournament or so. The ball finally started to peel off the spot and face up into pocket and I was able to throw the next 15 in row. As many of you know I had back to back 300’s a number of years ago that was quite a thrill. Throwing that many in row at the “Open Championship” on a sport shot and on the “Open Championship” stage ranks right up their in my career highlights. A stone 9 pin is what broke the string followed by a double and a spare strike pace off the sheet. Currently I’m in 16 place through 20,000 or so in the singles event with 736. Not bad. Preparation and practice were key in achieving success.

Thank you to to my friends that encouraged me along the way and a special thank you to you Rebecca. You were part of the practice and game plan going into the tournament. By the way …. nice web site!
Roll on

Kudos to you and the team! Anyone who has been to Nationals knows how challenging the shot is. Everyone worked hard and practiced diligently for the events in Vegas and it paid off. Just does to show “practice makes permanent”. It was an honor to help out along the way. Thanks for the opportunity. Roll on!
