Festival of Frugality bloggers give tips on how to save your “dead presidents”

Have you ever heard of cash being referred to as “dead presidents?” The Festival of Frugality, which is published on Tuesdays and hosted this week by Mighty Bargain Hunter, can show you how so keep more of those “dead presidents” in your wallet.

Here are some of the posts you’ll find this week:

  • Savvy Frugality presents Ten Lessons from a One-Income Family: “We had never planned on living on one income, and we quickly burned through our emergency fund, which I am once again in the process of rebuilding. Is it possible for a family of four to live on one income? Sure it is. Is it easy? Not exactly.” (This article is particularly relevant to those of you in southeast Michigan with a family member who has lost a job, or whose job situation is getting iffy).
  • Mommy Gets Paid presents More Bang for Your Coupon Buck: “Even if you aren’t planning to shop every week, check out the ads for coupons or any advertised deals that are too good to pass up.” (The Monroe on a Budget blogger has long been using coupons at the grocery and drugstores, and now she’s doing rebates too. For tips on these and other shopping tactics, check out my grocery tips and tricks sidebar.)
  • Sense to Save presents No more deprivation in the name of being frugal: “The whole point of cutting back on your grocery costs is so you’ll have more money to use in other areas. …. It’s NOT intended to make you feel deprived, or worse, make you rebel against frugality altogether.” (What if you can’t, or don’t want to, cut expenses or get financial assistance in one area of your household budget? Then you cut back or get financial assistance for another expense. The bottom line is still the bottom line.)

There’s much, much more to read. I’m still not done clicking on what the festival bloggers have posted. You’ll want check out the entire showcase.
