The 1950s grocery budget

The blogger at Like Merchant Ships has an interesting thread going about cooking for her millenium family on a budget grocery and menu list that was designed in the 1950s.

The journey starts at 1950’s budget menu. She’s got follow-up reports and photos at Saturday lunch, canned vs. dried beans, and Sunday breakfast.

Yes, it would be entirely plausible for my grandmother to have served her family a menu like that in the 1950s.

Interesting, although it would be even more interesting experiment to be on a British war time ration books of 1945. Although food was limited, people were said to be healthier than ever before.

Thanks for choosing my article on financial products to avoid btw
