Festival of Frugality: Great Designs theme

The Festival of Frugality this week is hosted by Green Panda Treehouse, who set up a Great Designs theme.

Here are some of the blog posts you’ll see on this showcase:

  • The Digerati Life presents 5 Basic Frugal Techniques to Help Control Your Spending: “Limited income over a couple of years, especially during a time of recession and market uncertainty sure sounds rough! It will be, especially if we don’t do anything about it. So here’s what I’m doing about it.”
  • Smart Easy Money presents Cheap vs Quality (and environmental impact): “By purchasing things which will last longer, the buyer will have more money in the future (since they’re not constantly replacing cheap items), and the environment will be better because there will be less waste.”
  • Sound Money Matters presents Why Reading is Frugal: “When you watch TV or movies, your brain slips into a meditative state where you’re more susceptible to advertising. Seeing the same ads repeatedly encourages a need to own those things, so you spend more money. When you read, you avoid the consumer culture.” (And here’s a note from your blogger: Monroe County’s Big Read 2008 starts Friday.)
