Stock Trading to Go hosts PF Carnival

The Carnival of Personal Finance #146 is hosted this week by Stock Trading to Go. Blain, the blog host, shares links from across the Internet on various topics in the realm of personal finance.

In keeping with the editor’s theme, one of Blain’s picks was Amateur Asset Allocator, who presents Determine Your Risk Tolerance: “Investing at or below your ability to take risk makes it far more likely you’ll stick to your plan in bad markets and eventually reach your financial goals.” (This is pretty good advice no matter how big your piggy bank may be.)

And here are some of the other links on the blogroll:

  • Financial Learn presents Ten Things Women Wish Men Knew About Money: “The best financial investment that a man could make for a working woman, especially when there are kids, is to provide us with maid service.” (OK I’m living on a budget. Never had a maid. But I’ll tell you one or two appointments with a maid service would be REALLY appreciated when a woman is dealing with unusual circumstances such as recovering from childbirth, recovering from surgery or caregiving a seriously ill family member.)
  • Financial Gal presents Money-saving tips for new parents: “We received a baby swing, papasan chair, bassinet, baby clothing, high chair, changing table, car seat and bottle warmer from friends whose own kids had outgrown these things.” (Here in southeast Michigan, it is popular to have a specific kind of rummage sale called a Mom 2 Mom Sale. It’s all second-hand kids’ stuff. You’ll find a huge list of metro Detroit and Downriver sales at Mom2Mom List, which is on my blogroll; and the Monroe County sales are listed with other rummage sales on the MonroeTalks calendar and in the Community Page of the print and e-editions of The Monroe Evening News.)
  • Oh My Aching Debts presents 10 Steps to Take if You Can’t Pay Your Bills: “The most important thing is to do these things as soon as you know you have a problem paying your bills. Even if you think that you will be better able to pay or catch them up in the very near future, make payment arrangements early.” (The sooner you start on this project and other money-saving tactics, the better. It takes time to notice results.)
  • And my entry was 10 Ways to Save With Your Tax Refund. If you read the post when I made it a few days ago, click back. GreenPath Debt Solutions distributed similar tips in a handout Saturday at the Mortgage Solutions seminar at Monroe County Community College that I added in a comment block.

Thanks for mentioning my post. I liked yours as well. It is pretty much exactly what I did with my refund.

Thanks for mentioning my post! Freecycle.org is a website where people post goodies that they want to give away for free, including tons of baby stuff.
