USA Today: cutting back on business trips
If you drive to appointments as part of your job, you’ve probably noticed gas prices are biting into either your budget or your company’s budget.
USA Today reports As gas prices rise, driving for business changes.
A snippet:
Most business travelers are making smaller adjustments to their routines, such as consolidating trips, replacing some visits with e-mails or conference calls, or driving out of their way to find the cheapest pumps.
Business people and business owners do have a lot of advantages and work-arounds these days as compared to the gas price hikes during the 1970s. There were no cell phones, fax machines, e-mail, Internet sites or navigation devices in that day to help limit the cost of long-distance calls, select hotels or restaurants in advance, and make long-distance trips as efficient as possible. So if you can’t do much about gas prices, at least you can travel smart.
