Community yard sales = more traffic to your tables

What’s one of the best ways to get a lot of traffic to your garage sale?

Participate in a neighborhood sale where as many people as possible on your street or in your community are open for business!

Customers love the idea because they can hit a lot of sales without wasting a lot of gas money or time.

You’ll love the idea because you can share the advertising expenses. In many cases, if you sign up with the organizers in advance, your address will be on a big list that is available to all shoppers.

And you can also take advantage of free publicity options that are available to non-profit or not-for-profit events (such as the MonroeTalks calendar) when you are involved in a city-wide or neighborhood association sale.

Here are some community sales that have been announced for the next couple of weeks:

Would you like to get your neighborhood involved with something like this?

Pick a date that’s a few weeks in advance and works for you and at least one other neighbor, and then start recruiting other people on your block, in your apartment complex, or along your street to get in on the action. (Don’t try to coordinate “what’s the best date for everybody?” because you’ll get mired in schedule conflicts and stall out. Just pick a date and run with it. )

This year the annual Luna Pier City Wide Yard Sale and Freedom Festival (with fireworks at the pier in the evening) will be July 5th beginning at 8 a.m. Images from last-year’s event are available on the Mayor’s web site at:
