Advanced CVS shopping

If you follow the shopping blogs, you’ll find the trick to raking in big savings with drugstore rebates is when you can roll over one rebate to another rebate-able purchase.

I did that today at CVS.

I just got home with a gallon of milk (seriously needed); 10 Soy Joy / Luna bars (husband likes to take those to work for snack); and five bags of Hersey chocolate / York / Reese’s minis (candy is something we only buy when it is really cheap).

And I paid $7.14.

How did I get to that total? I turned in $11 worth of CVS Extra Care Bucks that I earned from last week’s sales, plus $4.65 in manufacturer’s coupons on the York candy, Country Fresh milk and Soy Joys that I had cut out from previous week’s Sunday newspapers.

I put all that on the kitchen counter and told my husband what I paid. He was impressed.

Now here’s the punch line.

I got another $5 Extra Care Bucks rebate with that purchase.

See page 3 of this week’s CVS flier – buy $10 worth of selected candy – get $5 back. (The bag of Hershey’s minis that normally costs $3.49 retail is only $2 this week.)
