I rarely swear. And I’m not going to on the blog. Those are nonsense characters I typed in my headline. Use your imagination as to what word you would replace those characters with.

Power went out again last night at our home and other neighborhoods in the Monroe area. (You can find DTE’s outage map in pdf format here) I assume it was a weather related situation. DTE Energy estimates our home as being back in power 5:30 p.m. today.

Here’s the plan:

• We do have electric at The Monroe Evening News office. That’s where I’m typing right now. So I’m going to put some groceries in the employee lunchroom refrigerator. It will be OK for a day or two because the fridge was recently cleared out and we have a short shift on the weekends.
• I’m on my way to find a grocery store that’s open to get some ice for the ice chest so we can keep a few things cold at home.
• My husband is off today, but I’m working. So it’s his job to babysit the sump pump situation.

Why are my husband and I so annoyed about this situation? We had no power for two days barely two weeks ago, and some southeast Michigan residents were without electricity for a lot longer than than. Click through my archives on “power outage.”
