I do use the bank card at Wal-Mart and Meijer because they do e-checks and will give me back the paper check. Meijer also has a customer card where our “points” go to my designated charity IF I use cash or debit card but NOT if I use a check.

But I find that it saves no time during the transaction to use the bank card – look how much time it takes to tap through the entire sequence at the keypad! And then one still has to record the amount spent in the checkbook register.

The only time I would find coupons embarassing is if we were to go out to dinner with casual acquaintances who don’t know that well. Any other time I have no shame with the coupons. I often hear sighs from people in the line behind me, but I stopped caring what most people think a long time ago.

So Monroe, you actually still write paper checks? Oh well, at least you sound like you are quick about it. Most of the check writers I encounter around here I would like to take out into the street and beat they are so slow. But of course it is Texas so everyone thinks as slow as they talk.
