Charles Slat: the economic whine
Charles Slat, who blogs at Consumer Alert! and is one of my co-workers at The Monroe Evening News, has this piece for his Sunday business column on page 1D of today’s print and e-editions:
Economic engine is producing a high whine of content
A snippet:
Instead of going to restaurants, Silas prided himself on having cookouts. He’d throw some food on the grill, invite some friends over, pop some tabs, and called it high livin’ without suffering the indigestion that sometimes comes with a restaurant tab.
But the old grill hasn’t been fired up yet this year. “You know what they’re charging for a propane fill?” he asks, eyes bulging.
Puh-leese, don’t ask him about the price of groceries.
