Edible landscape workshop Wednesday in Toledo
A workshop, “Stretching your food dollars with edible landscaping,” will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Toledo Botanical Conference Center.
What’s edible landscaping? The Toledo Blade has a story in Sunday’s edition that explains the concept:
Edible landscapes date to the gardens of ancient Middle Eastern lands where flowers, grape arbors, and fruit trees incorporated places to sit and enjoy the scenery.
You don’t have to replace your entire lawn with useful or edible plants. But most of us have a spot where something might grow well.
I have a really tiny back yard, so I decided to see what I could grow in containers. The strawberry plants I tried to start this year didn’t grow; but the peppermint plants are happy.
