More proof that working for the news media doesn’t immunize one against the headlines of the day:

Thank goodness for mobile phones. Landline service is down, too. I have Comcast’s digital phone service and, like my cable and Internet connection, it’s unusable without power. But with our mobile phones, charged with our car batteries, my wife and I are at least in touch.
