Free Press: Foreclosure crisis and presidential solutions

The Detroit Free Press kicked off its presidential campaign issue series on today’s front page with a focus on the foreclosure crisis and the solutions proposed by candidates McCain and Obama.

A snippet:

In Michigan, nearly 90,000 — or 6.01% — of homes were in foreclosure, ranking the state No. 2 behind Florida’s 6.71%. If the tide continues, about 6.5 million mortgages will fall into foreclosure over the next five years, according to the financial group Credit Suisse.

The on-line and print editions of this story also a list of Hope Now-approved counseling agencies that have offices in metro Detroit.

So a lot of people foolishly bought homes that were beyond their means and I am supposed to use my tax money to bail them out! No thank you. Use my tax money to upgrade roads in Monroe County. I fail to see why it is the governments job to save unwise people.
