Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn is giving hundreds of fans a rare, up-close look inside the garage area for its upcoming NASCAR weekend.

To help mark the 40th anniversary of racing at MIS, Speed Channel and the speedway will give away 500 tickets to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series garage.

The first 500 race fans to stop by the MIS ticket booth adjacent to the Speed Channel stage on Friday June 13 will receive a free NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series garage pass. Passes will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

The ticket booth will open at 9 a.m.; the garage gate will open at 3:15 p.m. The autograph session with some of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series drivers will take place in the garage from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. behind participating drivers’ transporters.

No purchase is necessary for a garage pass but participants must have a valid grandstand ticket for that day and must be wearing appropriate clothing. No open-toed shoes, sleeveless shirts or shorts are allowed in the garage. A grandstand ticket or infield wristband must accompany this pass. Children 12 and under do not require a grandstand ticket nor a wristband for entry, however, they must be accompanied by an adult.

“This is the first time we have had the opportunity to allow our fans this type of experience. These passes can’t be bought,” said Roger Curtis, track president. “Many other tracks do not allow fans anywhere near the garages, and we are letting 500 people in. We hope that by allowing our fans this experience we will achieve our goals of creating those lasting memories at Michigan International Speedway.”

MIS is hosting three events next weekend. They include:

• Friday June 13: The Racing for Wildlife 200 ARCA RE/MAX Series
• Saturday June 14: NASCAR Nationwide Series CARFAX 250
• Sunday June 15: NASCAR Sprint Cup Series LifeLock 400
