Michigan Public Radio: Auto suppliers struggling

I heard this news clip twice already on Michigan Public Radio – once during the afternoon rush yesterday, and again this morning.

Analyst expects more auto supplier bankruptcies.

A snippet:

The outlook for carmakers is bad and not getting better anytime soon. Most analysts expect this will be the worst year for sales in at least a decade.

The car companies have already announced production cuts. And that means suppliers will be forced to cut as well.

My husband learned yesterday that his summer layoff at an auto supplier will be longer than previously expected.

Based on what’s been said in this news report and others about the auto industry during the past couple of weeks, I imagine a lot of Monroe County families have recently, or will soon get, similar unwelcome news.
