Money posts from Carnival of Personal Finance 7/28

The Carnival of Personal Finance for July 28 was hosted by You Need a Budget. Here are some of the posts you’ll find on all things financial:

  • To Be Debt Free presents How deep is the hole you’re in?Instead of food, break the category down into groceries, restaurant meals, fast food, lunches, etc. If you buy nonfood items at the grocery store, estimate what percentage of each grocery bill is food and what is nonfood, and put these amounts in separate lists.” Yes, the blogger’s budget suggestions are this detailed. This is the first in a series on how to get a handle on your household finances.
  • $aving to Invest presents 21 signs that you are losing interest in your job.You no longer feel challenged in the work you are doing. It is either boring or of little interest to you and your only goal is to get it done as soon as possible, as opposed to doing the best job possible.” Yes, I know, those of us who live in Southeast Michigan are lucky to have jobs. Period. But maybe you can suggest that some job duties be swapped around in your workplace.
  • Penny Jobs presents How to determine when we are in a recession from your neighbors. “The government may not be ready to say that we are officially in a recession, but strange behavior in your neighborhood is sure to give it away.” Here’s my addition to the list – when chit chat over the property line includes congratulations all around for still being employed!
