MSNBC: 10 tips on diaper costs
When my daughter was little, we lived in an apartment with no laundry hook-ups. We had to carry our clothes to either my parents’ home, and wait for our turn to use the laundry machines in a busy household, or haul everything to a coin-operated laundry center and pay a lot of money to get everything cleaned in about two hours.
Without easy access to laundry machines, I really didn’t have the option of using cloth diapers. I did have some cloth diapers, but they were used only in emergencies. The kid wore disposable diapers throughout her baby and toddler years.
For families who are in similar circumstances, MSNBC has this post today 10 tips: How to save money on diapers.
A snippet:
Opt for the smallest possible size that fits your child well, and then buy that size in a large container. More diapers will fit inside the box that way, and you’ll spend less money per diaper.
And if you haven’t seen this post yet, Baby Cheapskate has a how many diapers per pack worksheet.

This can be very helpful information for new moms/dads, as diapers can be a huge cost if you don’t know how to get them for cheap. I firmly recommend playing the drugstore game and using either CVS or Walgreen’s for such needs and stocking up when they run their deals (I offer tips on my blog). Thank goodness we’re beyond this need now, but I won’t promise that we’ll never again need them!

All I have to say is that the cheap boxes of Luvs work just as well (if not better!) than the more expensive Huggies and Pampers. Even with a coupon, the name brands are usually much more expensive. When I first had Caitlyn I only used the name brands (probably because I didn’t know any better), but once Keegan came around we quickly caught on to the awesomeness of Luvs! And I often also get Luvs coupons at the register at Meijer after I finish my purchases……
