New GI bill expands education benefits
Here’s a perk that military families may want to look into when planning ahead for college expenses: The new GI Bill that goes into effect in mid-2009 (2009-10 school year) will expand the benefits that military personnel have in seeking college funding as a service benefit.
A lot of Guard and Reserve personnel will be eligible, depending on the service record in recent years.
And here’s a new twist: some veterans will be able to transfer unused benefits to their spouses and children.
Jesse at Veteran’s Review has a post about this situation, with a link to the Military.com article and overview.
