Carnival of Personal Finance 8/11

The Aug. 11 edition of the Carnival of Personal Finance was hosted by No Debt Plan. Here are some of the posts you’ll find on all things financial:

  • Single Guy Money presents Back to Basics: “Even if you’ve been in the personal finance game for a while, sticking to these basic financial concepts can help to improve your personal finances.” There are some great refresher points here.
  • The Family Wallet presents Five Ways to Make Kids’ Classes More Affordable: “Although you want your child to have all of the benefits that come with extracurricular activities, finding room for them in your budget can be tough. You’re going to need all the tricks you can think of to make these experiences more affordable.” We had to make choices on priorities when my daughter was in school – she didn’t participate in some activities she would have liked to do, but we did set aside the time and money for activities she really wanted to be involved in.
  • Learning the Ropes presents: Savings – How I stay motivated in the face of financial mishaps: “Even if your savings won’t be always enough to bail you out of the situation, it will help soften the blow, at the very least you can take comfort in the fact that you did all you could to avert the situation.” I like the explanation of at least softening the blow – I know my husband and I have had to face that reality from time to time.
