CBS: A family knocks on the door of a food pantry
CBS has this report: A family at the brink.
A snippet:
It’s just a few blocks from her home in Endicott, New York — but this is a walk Brenda Hudy has never made.
“I heard that you had a food pantry here,” Brenda says as she stands outside a door to a church. “… and I’m here to get help.”
Do you, or someone you know, live in southeast Michigan and need help with grocery bills? I have two sidebars that explain what you can do in that situation.
- Food assistance in Monroe County is for those who need soup kitchen and food pantry help or may qualify for food stamps. If you need to go beyond my list, Julie’s List has a huge county-by-county list for metro Detroit and southeast Michigan.
- Grocery shopping on a budget is aimed at families who don’t qualify for, or prefer to avoid for as long as possible, the traditional charity and government food assistance programs. (Many of the tactics listed in this sidebar are tricks I actually use to keep my family’s grocery bills down.)
