MCOP emergency food distribution starts Nov. 10
The Monroe County Opportunity Program will start its next emergency food distribution on Nov. 10 for eligible families in Monroe County, Mich.
For those age 60 and older, there is a gross income limit of $16,640 a year or $320 per week for the first person in the home. For each additional family member, a senior citizen should add $5,760 or $111 per week.
For those age 59 and younger, eligibility is up to $13,520 a year or $260 per week. For each additional family member, add $4,680 per year or $90 a week. This means a family of four with household income of less than $27,560 is eligible for the program.
To receive the MCOP food boxes, a photo ID card and proof of income such as a food stamp card, Medicaid card or pay stub must be shown at distribution.
This month’s boxes include apricots, beef, canned chicken, carrots, creamed corn, flour mix, green beans, nut mix, orange juice, peas, red kidney beans, salmon and tuna.
This will be the last distribution through the MCOP program until Feburary.
For information on eligibility and pickup dates, call MCOP at 241-2775.
Based on these income levels, MCOP families also qualify for some of the programs I have listed on a food assistance sidebar.
