The Monroe Evening News reports IRS is looking to give people money. Story is also on page 1A of the print and e-editions.
A snippet:
More than 100 Monroe County residents have federal tax checks waiting for them to claim – either tax refunds or economic stimulus checks.
The checks, totaling more than $78,000, were returned to the Internal Revenue Service due to mailing address errors. They include 68 people owed $41,546 in economic stimulus check payments and 35 people owed $36,645 in tax refund checks.
In many cases, these are people who moved and did not provide their new address to IRS.
How can you get that money? Contact the IRS at www.irs.gov or (866) 234-2942.
