Free Press: Area’s homeless problem grows
Today there is a Poverty Summit in Detroit. Some of the people who are involved in Monroe County’s Homeless Awareness Week campaign (which is this week) are attending.

Foreclosures and spiraling unemployment have driven stable suburban families out of their homes — and into shelters — for the first time in their lives. It’s straining a system that always operates at near-capacity, forcing shelter personnel to turn people away, some day after day.
