Freep: Black Friday sales postings showing up
The Detroit Free Press reports that some of the retailers are “revealing” their Black Friday secrets via early postings of sales fliers and formal announcements.
Now, you still want to get a print version of a newspaper on Wednesday or Thursday in the city where you live, and / or the city where you plan to shop on Black Friday. Reason: Those newspapers are going to be full of ads and deals, many of which haven’t been posted anywhere yet.
The Monroe Evening News has, for many years, bumped up its Wednesday press time by an hour and a half because our staff needs that much extra time to get all the advertising inserts stuffed before the carriers get their paper bundles. Yes, that is the plan again this year. (We don’t print a paper on Thanksgiving Day.)
And The Lansing State Journal reports on its Deals and Don’ts blog that 51 advertising inserts are scheduled in its Thanksgiving Day newspaper.
Click back through my archives for Black Friday to find what hours the Monroe-area stores have announced for opening times, a list of Black Friday sales sites and overall shopping tips.
Do keep in mind – you want to confirm any sales post on the Internet with an actual flier for the store you plan to be shopping at (this can be done through sales fliers available in your store or sales fliers in the local newspapers); or get on your favorite store’s web site and punch in your zip code (we’ve already talked on this blog about Kmart deals that were good in nearby cities but not in Monroe).
