Kohl’s, Sears and Elder-Beerman all had sales fliers in my Friday edition of The Monroe Evening News announcing sales today Saturday Nov. 29:

• El-Bee has doorbusters from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. today that include 60 percent off Ruff Hewn and Paradise men’s shirts, 60 percent off designer leather outerwear from Izod and Calvin Klein and deals on vintage college fleece. Or pick your own special with the coupons in the fliers.
• Sears has doorbusters from 7 a.m. to noon today that includes an extra 10 percent off most merchandise. Featured items in flier include Kenmore sewing machine for $143.99. All denim is also on sale. Most mechanics tool sets are on sale.
• Kohl’s has early bird sales from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. today that includes a Black and Decker wafflemaker for $19.99 and Apt. 9 sportswear at 50 to 60 percent off.

So, what has my own family been doing during the Black Friday sales? I told you we’ve usually done everything BUT Black Friday. My husband appreciates the chance to sleep in, and I have to work. We’re also cramming in family visits and travel arrangements for the college student and other holiday chores. I do set aside all the sales fliers, but there really is limited time to shop.

However, … college daughter did go to Kohl’s yesterday during the doorbuster hours on Black Friday. She needed some winter clothes for campus and also bought a gift purse with pretty lotions for a friends’ Christmas gift.

She spent $70 — and came home with $170 worth of stuff.
