M-Network’s Money-Saving Tips for the Holidays
Did you like the money-saving holiday tips I posted last week on Monroe on a Budget and were featured in the Sunday edition of The Monroe Evening News?
A couple of people who have never been to the blog told me they liked the article, and that it was a very appropriate topic given the headlines from Michigan these days.
Today, I read some more great tips.
The M-Network, which is a partnership of some well-known personal finance bloggers, has put its collective wisdom and expertise together to produce an e-book “Money Saving Tips for the Holidays.”
I downloaded my copy from Gather Little By Little.
There are tips for a variety of lifestyle and geographic circumstances – from the social butterflies of the big cities, to those who want a frugal holiday date with significant others, to the moms who want to spend quality time with the children.

I remember the Fall that I had 7 children from 16 years old to 9 months. I worked full time as a Paramedic (24 hours on, 48 off) and was in Nursing school. Realizing that with Finals a week before Christmas that I could NOT do it all, I called a family conference. I asked the kids to come up with a list of 3, only 3, of the things we normally did at the holidays. We would do those but not everything. Guess what? All of the time consuming, costly things I thought they would choose were not on the list. I forget now what they wanted to do but we had an inexpensive, relaxed Christmas.
Moral: Call your own family conference and listen to the children.
