MEN: Former Ford plant ends work

The Monroe Evening News has this report today: Former Ford plant ends work.

A snippet:

Today was to be the last regular production shift at the former Ford Motor Co. plant in Monroe, a pillar of the area’s economy for nearly 60 years.

Now called Automotive Components Holdings, the last catalytic converters rolled off the line at the venerable factory, leaving about 425 hourly and 55 salaried workers wondering about their futures.

“Today is my last day after almost 19 years,” said Michael (Ike) Iocoangeli, an hourly worker represented by Local 723, United Auto Workers. “It is a very sad day.”
