Monroe Monday dinner for needy moving to new location
The Monroe Evening News reports today that the Monday God Works! meal is moving to the Arthur Lesow Community Center.

The Monday night meal for the homeless and needy at the First Wesleyan Church in Monroe is moving to a new location due to recent turnouts exceeding capacity at the church, organizers say.
Starting next week, the meals will be held every Monday in the gym at the Arthur Lesow Community Center, 120 Eastchester St. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Serving will begin at 6 and stop at 6:30.
The Monday night dinner had been serving more than 100 people in recent weeks.
God Works! president Jeff Weaver made the announcement to the newspaper Friday, so there wasn’t time to update the lists that will be in the papers this weekend or are currently on the MonroeTalks calendar. But I’ll fix what I can Monday morning and get the new location listed before next weekend.
God Works! expanded the concept started by two local churches years ago in that anybody who needs a free dinner in Monroe should be able to get one. Unlike many other assistance programs aimed at needy families, there is NO application required, no income verifications, and it doesn’t matter whether you have a job or not. Just show up. Dinner is available seven days a week now in Monroe, and selected nights in nearby cities.
If you’re wondering whether to put gas in your car or groceries in the refrigerator, then cut back on your grocery purchases and bring your family to one or more of the free dinners next week.
