Many of my local readers will be looking more than ever for bargains while Christmas shopping.

If you are a Black Friday shopper, that’s fine; but you also can get good deals both before and after that date if you pay attention to what’s in the sales fliers. You’ll be surprised at the savings when you aim for catching as many bargains as you can, no matter the date.

Here are some sales fliers I found in my home-delivery edition of The Monroe Evening News today:

• Sears has doorbuster specials from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday that include kids Protection Systems bubble jackets. All sewing machines 15 percent off through Saturday. Diehard boots 60 percent off. Look on page 2 inside the flier for a 15 percent off coupon good Friday and Saturday on selected merchandise.
• Menards has all Hickory Cabinet hardware on sale, and get a $25 off gift card with any single purchase of $150 in Hickory Cabinet hardware. Both my sister and I upgraded our kitchen hardware piece by piece because of the expense — such pretties are hard to find on sale.
• Cabela’s has a winter warmer sale today through Nov. 23 that includes fleece vests, nylon jackets and wool coats. Take the coat you are replacing to the St. Joseph coat drive or a thrift shop so someone else has a “new to me” winter coat.
• Kohl’s has a two-day sale with power hours in effect from 3 p.m. to midnight Friday and from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Those specials include all in-stock toys, all girls’ fashion accessories, all holiday dresses for girls, all men’s dress shirts and all outerwear for the family.
• W.R. Case and Sons Cutlery has a sale through Dec. 31 on assorted pocket and gift knives. There is a coupon in the flier for 50 percent off a Case Cross pen or Zippo lighter.
• Toys R Us has a two-day sale with door buster prices from 3 to 10 p.m. Friday and from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday that includes all Fisher Price Shake-n-go vehicles, all Wild Planet purse pals and the Home Depot “paint set.”
