Greenest Dollar: How to pay off your mortgage early

Another Michigan blogger, Heather at The Greenest Dollar, has this post How to pay off your mortgage early.

A snippet:

Can you imagine the freedom of not having that mortgage payment hanging over your head each month? If you paid it off and eliminated your other debt, you could live debt-free. Bliss. Plus, you’d only have to earn enough to pay for your basic necessities: food, heat, electric…Imagine the possibilities this would open up for you!

If you are not ready to take on pre-paying the mortgage, how about paying down / paying off early a credit card? A car loan? A student loan?

Now, where do you find the cash to put extra on payments – or keep up with payments despite a layoff?

You do that by adding to your collection of frugal living techniques. After you get other monthly household expenses down, use that money to pay off debt.
