What to do about that Chrysler gas card
The Toledo Blade reports today that Chrysler gas cards’ value slips.
Do you remember the Let’s Refuel America promotion where one of the bonus offers available for a new vehicle was a gasoline card? Here’s a tip on how to max out your investment when lower prices are in effect:
“What consumers got in the program was 12,000 miles’ worth of gas at $2.99 a gallon, so it’s best for now not to use the card until the prices hit $2.99 or more again,” said Yvonne Malmgren, manager of global sales and incentive communications for Chrysler.
Chrysler officials did not say what would happen if the firm, which is seeking government aid, goes out of business.
Well, it’s your call as to how to respond to the future of Chrysler.
But if the only issue was deciding when to max out your discount on gas – it’s not like 12,000 miles worth of gasoline will last many families for a year anyway.
Even for families who own multiple vehicles and normally divide out their everyday miles among those cars, the typical decision when driving out of town is “let’s take the new car!” After all – it’s still under warranty, it provides a more comfortable ride, there are more safety features …
And there goes the mileage allowance.
