Don’t make this mistake on the 10 for $10 sale
Both Meijer and Kroger have 10 for $10 sales going on this week. You’ll want to pay close attention to the products that are eligible — I actually made a mistake this morning shopping at Meijer. Can you pick it out?
Here’s the mistake. The chocolate-flavored Chex Mix is NOT included in the 10 for $10 sale.
How did I catch that one? I bought only the items that were on the 10 for $10 list. The pre-coupon total for 11 items (you get one freebie on this promotion) should have been $10.
Instead, the clerk rang up more than $14 worth.
Whoa!
She and I both checked the sales flier. We realized that only certain varieties of Chex Mix were on sale, and the chocolate trail mix flavor I put in my shopping cart apparently is not one. I ran back to the snack aisle to switch out the Chex Mix to another flavor and went home with a much better total.
You see, I had coupons for all of those 10 for $10 products except the Meijer brand peaches.
I walked out of the store paying only $4.20.
One of the other clerks was chatting with us as my total rang up. She said she finds it frustrating to shop with coupons because “When I have a coupon, it’s not on sale. When it’s on sale, I don’t have a coupon.”
I told her “That’s why, when a coupon matches up to a sale, I jump on it.”
Check back later for a Kroger report. I’ve got a shopping list figured out for that sale too.

Paula, I made mistake at Meijer yesterday too! I found out I can’t count to 11. I ended up with 26 items from the 10 for 10 products! I think one of the problems is I forgot my flier and didn’t want to fight the crowd to get another one. One of the items was marked $1.00 and I thought it was on the 10 for 10 items. All in all I think I did a pretty good job, I spent $124.12, but brought home $181.52 worth of stuff. My coupons saved me $9.95.
