This caught my attention. Produce is ridiculously priced here, and has been since the local gardens closed, not that this was a great gardening year. One source that I didn’t see mentioned is to shop the produce bargain/marked down bin at the grocery store. I’ve gotten 5 lb bags of organic Yukons for 99 cents, bags with 2 heads of lettuce for $1 total, 8 lbs bags of loose potatoes $1, bags of salad $1, etc. If you are a cook, this is a great source for fresh produce. Just don’t overbuy, or be sure to freeze the surplus. I spent $5 recently on 16 softball sized peppers (Italian frying, green, orange, yellow) I reserved 5 for stuffed peppers and slivered the rest and froze them. Super cheap pizza topping, easy to chop further to add to omelettes/casseroles/spaghetti sauce etc.
